Kyo Sudare 京すだれ, Kyoto bamboo blinds

Bamboo blind series, sudare
Shinbashi #Gion, Kyoto 2010

Kyo Sudare, (Kyoto photogenic) bamboo blinds can be seen everywhere in Kyoto in temples, shrines, restaurants and machiya (traditional houses). They are used to shield from the sun, rain or insect.

Just beautiful.I spent lots of time at the machiyas photographing the blinds and architectural details and forms. Also my home area of Umezu near Arashiyama's rice fields through the seasons. You have captured the beauty of Kyoto absolutely.
